To David Garrard, history is just that.<\/h1>\n

The Jacksonville Jaguars suddenly find themselves in a tough spot. The team that found itself two wins from a Super Bowl appearance a year ago, now finds itself in an 0-2 hole already facing a \u201cmust win\u201d situation in only week three.<\/p>\n

No team in NFL history has ever recovered from an 0-3 start to come back and win the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t be thinking about \u2018Oh man, we\u2019re 0-2\u2019,\u201d said David Garrard on his cell phone. \u201cWe have to take it one game at a time like we always have been, but we really have to do that. We just need to start winning games and everything will take care of itself.\u201d<\/h2>\n

So far in 2008 things haven\u2019t taken care of themselves for the Jaguars like they did in\u00a02007.<\/p>\n

The Jags have lost their first two games by a total of 10 points and have lost the\u00a0services of two starting offensive lineman (Guards Vince Manuwai and Maurice Williams)\u00a0for the rest of the season.<\/h2>\n

Additionally, starting center Brad Meester is still recovering from\u00a0off-season surgery and back up tackle Richard Collier was also lost for the season after\u00a0he was shot sitting in his car and will spend the rest of the year on IR.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody sees these kinds of things coming,\u201d said David Garrard.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur prayers are with Richard. We hope he comes back healthy, but these other teams are not going to feel sorry for us or give us a pass just because this has happened (with the offensive line). We lost other lineman in the first game and now we just have to come together for this next game.\u201d<\/p>\n

So how do you regroup from losing two offensive linemen and do the fans understand\u00a0how important that is?<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think most people understand how much that affects a team. When you go through an\u00a0entire off-season with the same guys who have been playing these roles day in and day\u00a0out it goes a long way.<\/p>\n

“And now you\u2019ve got all these new players coming in, you\u2019ve never even seen them so what do you expect from them? It just makes it tough on you but I\u2019ve been in tough situations before.\u201d<\/p>\n

The key to the Jags 11-5 record a year ago was success in the running game.<\/h2>\n

The team\u00a0was second in the NFL last year in rushing, averaging 149 yards a game. This season\u00a0the team has only managed to rush for 131 yards in two games.<\/p>\n

The two headed\u00a0monster of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew has yet to produce the way it can,\u00a0averaging only 2.7 yards per carry on 35 attempts. Fred Taylor was limited in practice all\u00a0week with a sprained toe and Jones-Drew injured his ankle in last weeks lost to the\u00a0Buffalo Bills.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t even know he was hurt until I heard from my wife after the game because he still\u00a0played and was doing fine. I\u2019m sure it wasn\u2019t more than a little tweak,\u201d said Garrard of\u00a0MJD.<\/p>\n

And of Fred Taylor; \u201cFred has looked good this week. He looks like he\u2019s 25 years old and\u00a0is as strong as ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

The match up between the Colts and Jaguars this Sunday will give the winner a big head\u00a0start in the race for the lead in the always tight AFC South.<\/p>\n

It may only be week three, but\u00a0Garrard knows starting out 0-3 is an ominous beginning which is why everyone will be\u00a0motivated.<\/h2>\n

\u201cI predict were gonna show up in Indy ready to play as hard as we can and let everything lay the way its going to lay,\u201d said David Garrard.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t predict wins and loses but you can predict everyone showing up and giving 100% and that\u2019s what it takes.\u201d<\/p>\n
